Report: Tatis not expected back until July because of 'slow-healing injury'
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. isn't expected to return until some time in July because his wrist injury is healing slowly, sources told Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci.
San Diego's superstar was originally scheduled to miss three months and return to action in June after fracturing his left wrist during the offseason. The 23-year-old underwent wrist surgery on March 16.
Tatis was involved in a motorcycle accident last December, although it is unclear if that was the cause of the wrist injury.
The Padres are hopeful Tatis can begin swinging a bat again after he undergoes a CT scan next week, The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee reports.
The one-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger signed a record-breaking 14-year, $340-million contract extension in February 2021.
