Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery to repair an injured flexor tendon on Monday, sources told The Athletic's Levi Weaver.
Garver is in his first season with the club since coming over in a trade with the Minnesota Twins. Texas is allowing the 31-year-old to play in this weekend's series against his former team before having surgery, reports Weaver.
The injury has hampered Garver thus far as he's hitting just .212/.292/.419 with 10 home runs and 22 RBIs in 51 games.
Garver has only appeared in 14 games behind the plate this season. Jonah Heim has taken the opportunity and emerged as a quality option, hitting 12 home runs with 31 RBIs in 56 games at catcher in 2022.
