Report: Chisholm out 6 weeks with stress fracture in back
The Miami Marlins could be without one of their biggest stars for an extended period of time.
Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. underwent a CT scan, which revealed a stress fracture in his back, sources told SportsGrid's Craig Mish and the Miami Herald's Jordan McPherson.
The timetable for the injury is approximately six weeks, according to Mish.
Chisholm has been on the injured list since June 29 with a right lower back strain.
The 24-year-old was enjoying a career-best campaign before the injury. Chisholm owns a .254/.325/.535 slash line with 14 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases in 60 games this season. He was named as the starting second baseman for the NL All-Star team but was unable to participate in the game due to injury.
The Marlins are clearly missing Chisholm's presence in the lineup as they dropped a fourth straight game on Thursday. Miami has mustered just one total run in that span and has been shut out in three consecutive contests.
