The bad news keeps piling up for the slumping Boston Red Sox, as the team placed All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers on the 10-day injured list with right hamstring inflammation.
Devers suffered the injury during Friday's 28-5 drubbing at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Red Sox are 5-13 in July and have fallen three games behind the pack in the AL wild-card standings.
Devers is enjoying the finest season of his six-year career. The 25-year-old owns a .981 OPS with 22 home runs and 55 RBIs in 87 games this campaign.
The Red Sox added outfielder Jaylin Davis to the roster from Triple-A in a corresponding move and transferred infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez to the 60-day IL as he continues to recover from a hip strain.
