Boone furious after Blue Jays deal Yankees 14th loss in 17 games
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is fed up with his club's play.
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Yankees 5-2 on Saturday to hand New York its 14th loss in the last 17 games.
"We gotta play better. Period," Boone said following the contest, according to ESPN's Marly Rivera.
"And the great thing is, it's right in front of us. It's right here, and we can fix it. ... It's there, and we can run away with this thing. We've got the dudes in there to do it."
The Blue Jays have taken the first three contests of this four-game weekend series, cutting the gap in the AL East standings to just seven games.

The Yankees have mustered only 58 runs in August while slashing a paltry .216/.289/.356. Boone said his team will keep struggling if they can't find a way to replicate their offensive brilliance from earlier in the season.
"If we don't score, it's tough to win," Boone said.
Things won't get any easier for the Yankees as they look to avoid the sweep Sunday with the Blue Jays sending All-Star right-hander Alek Manoah to the mound.
