Scherzer pulled during perfect game in return from IL

New York Mets right-hander Max Scherzer pitched six perfect innings in a 7-2 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.

Scherzer exited the game after throwing 68 pitches. The 38-year-old was making his first start since returning from the injured list with left oblique irritation.

The three-time Cy Young winner was replaced by Tylor Megill, who gave up a hit to the first batter he faced in Christian Yelich.

Scherzer, who earned the 200th win of his career, has been terrific in his first season in New York. He owns a 2.15 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 162 strikeouts in 133 2/3 innings across 21 starts.

The Mets are battling for the top position in the NL East with the Atlanta Braves and lead the division by one game.
