Phillies' Robertson out for NLDS after injuring calf during celebration
The Philadelphia Phillies will be without a key cog in the bullpen for their National League Division Series with the Atlanta Braves.
Reliever David Robertson isn't on the roster for the series after straining his calf while jumping in celebration following Bryce Harper's home run in Game 2 of the wild-card series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Robertson received a PRP injection in Philadelphia to help his recovery, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.
"He’s devastated," Phillies manager Rob Thomson said, according to The Associated Press. "He really wanted to pitch in the series. And he knows how big a part he is to this club. And he's very disappointed."
The Phillies acquired the 37-year-old at the trade deadline to bolster their bullpen for a run at the postseason.
Robertson emerged as a steadying presence, appearing in 22 games and posting a 2.70 ERA with six saves and 30 strikeouts across 23 1/3 innings after the trade.
The veteran hurler also pitched a scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts in Game 1 of the series against the Cardinals.
