Twins' Correa to opt out, test free agency
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa is planning to opt out of the final two years and approximately $70 million remaining on his contract and test free agency this offseason.
"With the year that I have had, my health and my being at the best moment of my career at 28, that is the right decision," Correa told Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia, according to ESPN.

Correa shocked the baseball world last offseason when he joined the Twins on a three-year, $105.3-million contract with multiple opt outs.
Minnesota faded down the stretch to a 78-84 record and missed the playoffs. Despite the team's struggles, Correa said he enjoyed his first campaign with the Twins and is open to returning to the franchise.
"I have a good relationship with Minnesota. I am very interested in being able to return," Correa said. "I have been in this business for a long time, and I know that things do not always go the way one wants them to."
Correa posted an .833 OPS with 22 home runs, 64 RBIs, and 70 runs scored in 136 games for the Twins in 2022.
