Giants' Zaidi: No player is out of our financial capability this offseason
Money won't get in the way of the San Francisco Giants signing anyone this offseason, according to president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi.
"I think from a financial standpoint there's nobody that would be out of our capability," the Giants executive said, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.
"And then it'll just be a question of whether there's mutual interest."
The Giants entered the offseason with financial flexibility. The club's payroll projects to be $51 million less than what it spent last season, according to Cots Baseball Contracts. It also has more than $111 million in tax space.
San Francisco has been linked to a number of free agents, including Aaron Judge, who grew up in the Bay Area.
The Giants also reportedly met with agent Scott Boras at the GM meetings. Boras represents free agents Carlos Correa, Brandon Nimmo, Xander Bogaerts, and Carlos Rodon. Rodon spent last season in San Francisco and recently opted out of his deal.
"I think they will be very, very aggressive because they've got a proven market and the economic ability to attract a number of free agents," Boras told the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea.
The Giants missed the playoffs last season after winning 107 games in 2021.
