Reds trade Farmer to Twins, add Newman
The Cincinnati Reds have traded infielder Kyle Farmer to the Minnesota Twins for right-hander Casey Legumina, the teams announced Friday.
Farmer hit .255/.315/.386 with 14 home runs, 25 doubles, and 78 RBIs in 145 games while playing shortstop and third base for the Reds last season.
Legumina appeared in 33 games (16 starts) in the minors last year. The 25-year-old posted a 4.80 ERA and 9.6 K/9 in 86 1/3 innings across two levels, reaching Double-A.
The Reds also acquired infielder Kevin Newman from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-hander Dauri Moreta, according to a team announcement.
Newman hit .260/.303/.357 with 20 homers and 143 RBIs in five seasons with the Pirates.
Moreta, 26, appeared in 35 games for the Reds last season. The Dominican hurler posted a 5.40 ERA and 9.2 K/9 in 38 1/3 innings.
