The San Francisco Giants signed outfielder Mitch Haniger, the team announced Tuesday.
The agreement is a three-year, $43.5-million deal, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. Haniger's contract also includes an opt-out after the second season, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The deal reportedly pays Haniger $28 million through the first two years, and he'd receive a $1-million bonus if traded, Rosenthal adds. Haniger can test free agency again after that or play out the final year of the contract, valued at $15.5 million.
Haniger's addition doesn't impact the Giants' pursuit of superstar outfielder Aaron Judge, according to Passan. The team reportedly made Judge a $360-million offer recently. Both Haniger and Judge are California natives, with the former born in Mountain View, one hour south of San Francisco. He played college ball for California Polytechnic State University.
Upon officially signing with the Giants, Haniger immediately joined the recruitment effort for Judge with a post on his Instagram.

Haniger spent the previous six years with the Seattle Mariners, hitting .263/.337/.480 with 107 homers and 18 steals. The former All-Star missed the entire pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. After returning from injury in 2022, the Haniger managed a .736 OPS (114 OPS+) over 57 games.
The 31-year-old had reportedly drawn interest from the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.
