The Washington Nationals added some rotation depth Friday, agreeing to a two-year, $13-million deal with right-hander Trevor Williams, a source told The Athletic's Stephen J. Nesbitt.

Williams, 30, spent the past one-and-a-half seasons with the New York Mets. He logged 89 2/3 innings in 2022, recording a 3.21 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 30 appearances, including nine starts.

The seven-year veteran should get a chance to start for the Nationals, who are expected to fill out their rotation with Josiah Gray, Patrick Corbin, Cade Cavalli, and MacKenzie Gore. The oft-injured Stephen Strasburg could also be an option.

Williams is the latest player the Nationals acquired this offseason. The club also signed third baseman Jeimer Candelario and outfielder Stone Garrett to big-league contracts and inked a slew of others to minor-league deals.
