Report: Brewers, Brian Anderson agree to 1-year, $3.5M deal
The Milwaukee Brewers and third baseman/outfielder Brian Anderson have agreed to a one-year deal, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports.
His deal is worth $3.5 million and includes an additional $2 million in incentives, a source told SportsGrid's Craig Mish.
Anderson, 29, hit .222/.311/.346 with eight homers and one stolen base over 98 games while primarily splitting time between third base and right field.
Anderson became a free agent when the Marlins opted to non-tender the arbitration-eligible hitter back in mid-November. He was projected to earn a $5.2-million salary in his final year of arb this winter.
The righty hitter has played his entire six-year career with the Marlins. Over 531 career games, he possesses a .750 OPS (105 OPS+) and notably earned NL Rookie of the Year consideration in 2018.
With the Brewers, Anderson could be asked to fill multiple roles. In the event he plays his natural position at the hot corner, Luis Urias could be asked to move to second base while Brice Turang and Keston Hiura could platoon at first base.
Anderson could also become primary right fielder over Tyrone Taylor. The team has notably lost Andrew McCutchen and Jace Peterson via free agency this winter.
