Report: D-Backs add veteran reliever Familia on minor-league deal
The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a minor-league deal with right-hander Jeurys Familia, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.
The deal includes an invite to major-league spring training. He'll earn $1.5 million with $500,000 more in performance bonuses if he makes the big-league club.
Familia, 33, split last season between the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox, where he posted a career-worst 6.09 ERA in 44 1/3 innings.
The one-time All-Star is the owner of 125 career saves, including 51 with the New York Mets in 2016.
Familia's addition will provide Arizona's bullpen with another veteran arm alongside Kevin Ginkel, Mark Melancon, Joe Mantiply, and offseason acquisition Miguel Castro.
D-Backs relievers combined for a 4.58 ERA and league-worst minus-0.7 fWAR in 2022.
