Rockies trade Moustakas to Angels
The Colorado Rockies traded infielder Mike Moustakas to the Los Angeles Angels for right-hander Connor Van Scoyoc, the teams announced.
Moustakas is having a bounce-back season with the Rockies after a disappointing three-year run with the Cincinnati Reds. The three-time All-Star is slashing .270/.360/.435 with 17 RBIs in 47 games.
Van Scoyoc pitched this season with the Angels' High-A affiliate, posting a 2.76 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 62 innings. The Angels selected him in the 11th round of the 2018 draft.
The trade between the two clubs comes on the same night that the Angels stomped the Rockies 25-1 in Colorado.
It's also the Angels' second deal in as many days after they acquired third baseman Eduardo Escobar from the New York Mets on Friday.
