Freeland helped off field after shoulder pops out while fielding ball
Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland was helped off the field by training staff after his right shoulder popped out of its socket while diving for a ground ball during Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants, manager Bud Black said, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.
Black added that the shoulder popped back in and that Freeland is undergoing X-rays.
Freeland fielded a sacrifice bunt attempt from Brett Wisely in the seventh inning with one out. The 30-year-old dove for the ball and seemingly landed on his shoulder. He grabbed the ball cleanly and prepared to throw to first base but instead rolled over in pain and grabbed his shoulder.
The Rockies summoned right-hander Justin Lawrence from the bullpen in relief.
Freeland allowed one run on seven hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings before the injury. Across 103 innings this season, including Saturday's outing, Freeland possesses a 4.72 ERA and 5.20 FIP in 19 starts.
