White Sox star Robert: 'I don't see myself as a leader'
Chicago White Sox All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. doesn't view himself as a leader off the field despite leading the team in most offensive categories.
"I don’t see myself as a leader," Robert said Tuesday, according to Vinnie Duber of CHGO Sports. "I try to do my job and be on the field and do the things that we should all push to do and maybe be an example for others. But I don’t see myself as a leader."
The White Sox have endured a bitterly disappointing campaign with multiple former players calling the team's culture and lack of leadership into question.
After he was dealt to the New York Yankees, former White Sox reliever Keynan Middleton took aim at the White Sox for having a "no rules" culture.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander and former White Sox ace Lance Lynn didn't deny Middleton's assertion.
When asked if the White Sox had any leaders in the clubhouse, Robert responded with "I don't know."
The 26-year-old is enjoying a career season so far in 2023. Robert owns a .894 OPS with 32 home runs, 66 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases across 114 games.
