Braves re-sign Jiménez to 3-year, $26M deal
The Atlanta Braves didn't wait long to make their first move of the offseason, re-signing right-handed reliever Joe Jiménez to a three-year, $26-million contract, the team announced Thursday.
Jiménez will earn $8 million in 2024 and $9 million in each of the final two years of the deal.
The 28-year-old avoided hitting free agency and received a substantial raise from his $2.765-million salary in 2023 after a terrific campaign that included a 3.04 ERA in 59 appearances.
Jiménez also ranked 12th among National League relievers with an 11.7 K/9 and finished in the 88th percentile in whiff percentage last season, according to Baseball Savant.
The Braves acquired the seven-year veteran from the Detroit Tigers last December in exchange for two prospects.
