Report: Dodgers decline Lynn's $18M option, reunion still possible

The Los Angeles Dodgers declined an $18-million team option on right-hander Lance Lynn, choosing to pay him a $1-million buyout instead, a source told The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya.

A reunion between the two sides is still possible, though, as the Dodgers are expected to be active in the free-agent starting pitching market.

The Dodgers acquired Lynn and reliever Joe Kelly from the Chicago White Sox before last July's trade deadline. Lynn, 36, made 11 starts for Los Angeles, posting a 7-2 record with a 4.36 ERA in 64 innings.

Lynn struggled to keep the ball in the park, allowing 16 round-trippers for the Dodgers. He led MLB in that category with a total of 44.

The two-time All-Star was also roughed up in his lone postseason start for the Dodgers. He allowed four earned runs on four homers in 2 2/3 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series.
