Reds add Suter on reported 1-year, $2.5M deal
The Cincinnati Reds agreed to a one-year, $2.5-million contract with veteran left-hander Brent Suter, a source told FanSided's Robert Murray.
The pact comes with a $3.5-million club option for the 2025 campaign, Murray adds.
Suter has developed into a strong reliever after beginning his career as a starting pitcher with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Suter played high school baseball in Cincinnati and is excited about the opportunity to pitch for the team he grew up cheering for.
"We are super excited. It's just a dream come true," Suter said, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon. "The Reds were my favorite team of any sport, anything, for years and years growing up. This is absolutely surreal, so cool."
The 34-year-old posted a 4-3 record with a 3.38 ERA, a 3.44 FIP, and 55 strikeouts across 69 1/3 innings for the Colorado Rockies in 2023.
Suter excelled against right-handed hitters last season, holding them to a .229/.290/.295 slash line in 166 at-bats.
