Braves place Murphy on IL with oblique strain
The Atlanta Braves put catcher Sean Murphy on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain, the club announced Saturday.
Murphy suffered a Grade 1 strain, which manager Brian Snitker deemed the best-case scenario, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.
Murphy was forced to leave Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to the injury.
The 29-year-old grabbed his left side during a seventh-inning at-bat. He was hitless in three at-bats before exiting the game.

"I hate it for him," Snitker said Saturday, according to The Associated Press. "One of those freak things that happen in baseball."
Murphy is in his second season with the Braves after he was acquired in a trade from the Oakland Athletics. He made his first All-Star Game in 2023, hitting 21 home runs with 68 RBIs and an .844 OPS.
The Braves will likely turn to veteran catcher Travis d'Arnaud in Murphy's absence.
Atlanta selected backstop Chadwick Tromp to take Murphy's spot on the active roster.
