Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Wade Miley will have Tommy John surgery on his left throwing elbow, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
On Monday, the team placed Miley, 37, on the 15-day IL with left elbow inflammation. Despite his age, the southpaw is optimistic he'll make a full recovery and eventually return to the mound.
"I've always said I want to go out on my own (terms)," Miley told McCalvy. "I still feel like I've got more in the tank."
Miley posted a 6.43 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over two starts in 2024.
The 14-year veteran joined the Brewers ahead of the 2023 season. He debuted with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011 and was named an All-Star the following year. He has a 4.07 ERA over 317 career appearances.
