A beekeeper received a standing ovation and MVP chants ahead of Tuesday's contest between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers for saving the game from being postponed after a swarm of bees descended on top of the protective netting behind home plate at Chase Field.

"I wasn't (expecting that)," beekeeper Matt Hilton said, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert and Michael Reynolds. "I thought I was just going to do my thing and cruise out. But it was fun."

Hilton did such a good job removing the bees that the D-Backs asked him to throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch, which he happily did.

Despite Hilton's efforts, the contest between the NL West rivals was still delayed nearly two hours.

The D-Backs beat the Dodgers 4-3 courtesy of a Christian Walker walk-off home run in extra innings.
