Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has right knee soreness after leaving Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox in the second inning, the team announced.

Buxton limped off the field with a trainer after he attempted to steal second base, slowing down as he neared the bag.

The 30-year-old is expected to undergo an MRI when the Twins return to Minneapolis.

"He had some uplifting words, and he was in seemingly good spirits," Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers said, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Star Tribune. "Let's take that as a good sign."

The oft-injured outfielder has appeared in 28 of the Twins' 30 games this season. He entered Wednesday slashing .242/.293/.385 with one home run and 11 RBIs.

Buxton has played more than 100 games in a campaign just once during his 10-year career.
