Report: Blue Jays among teams interested in Rockies' McMahon
The Toronto Blue Jays are among several teams showing interest in Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon, reports MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
However, the Rockies infielder is highly unlikely to be available at the trade deadline, a source told Morosi.
McMahon is in the midst of his finest season, slashing .286/.366/.483 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs in 54 games. The 29-year-old also owns a better road OPS (.905) than at his hitter-friendly home of Coors Field (.785).
The left-handed hitting McMahon, who also has experience at first and second base, could provide the Blue Jays with additional production at third base. Toronto third basemen have combined to post an 86 wRC+ this season, which ranks 23rd in the big leagues.
PLAYER | HR | RBI | OPS | WAR |
---|---|---|---|---|
Ryan McMahon | 10 | 33 | .849 | 1.5 |
Isiah Kiner-Falefa | 4 | 15 | .726 | 1.1 |
Ernie Clement | 2 | 7 | .631 | 0.1 |
McMahon signed a six-year, $70-million contact extension in March 2022. He's earning the remainder of $12 million this season and is set to earn an additional $12 million in 2025 before his salary increases to $16 million in 2026 and 2027.
