Jordan Montgomery's first campaign with the Arizona Diamondbacks isn't going well, and his struggles continued Wednesday when he was booed by home fans after allowing six earned runs on seven hits in two innings.

"You just feel like a piece of crap every day you show up," Montgomery said following Arizona's 9-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.

"Baseball's definitely got me in the furnace right now."

The 31-year-old hasn't lived up to expectations since signing a one-year, $25-million deal after an impressive 2023 campaign that included winning a World Series with the Texas Rangers.

Montgomery entered Wednesday's start with a 5.48 ERA and just one win in his last four outings before he was shelled by the Giants. The loss ended Arizona's four-game winning streak.

"Another stinker," Montgomery said. "There's way more negatives than positives right now. So it's hard to see any positives right now."

The hurler is struggling in a similar fashion to fellow left-hander Blake Snell - 9.51 ERA in six starts - after both pitchers missed spring training because they signed late.

The Giants pitcher recently pointed to the importance of participating in spring training while calling out teams who waited to sign players like himself and Montgomery.
