The Chicago White Sox set a dubious franchise record by losing their 14th consecutive game Thursday, getting pummelled 14-2 by the Boston Red Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The White Sox, an MLB-worst 15-48, hadn't lost 13 straight contests since 1924 prior to their current skid.

Year Dates Games lost
2024 May 22-June 6 14
1924 Aug. 9-26 13
1927 Sept. 10-22 12

Coming off a close loss to the crosstown Cubs on Wednesday night, the White Sox trailed early after starter Jake Woodford allowed a leadoff home run to Jarren Duran. The Red Sox scored two more in the second inning on an RBI single by Ceddanne Rafaela.

Woodford ultimately allowed seven earned runs over four innings.

Chicago's bats had no answer for Tanner Houck, who took a no-hitter into the sixth. The 27-year-old allowed two earned runs and nine strikeouts over seven innings.

The White Sox are expected to sell at the trade deadline and are reportedly exploring trade packages for Luis Robert Jr.

Chicago will have a chance to end its losing streak against Boston on Friday night.
