Report: White Sox not planning to fire Grifol
The Chicago White Sox don't have any plans to fire manager Pedro Grifol, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports.
The club is expected to reassess the situation in the offseason to see if changing managers will improve the club's prospects moving forward, Nightengale adds.
Grifol is in his second season as White Sox manager. Chicago recently set a franchise-worst mark with 14 consecutive losses and owns MLB's worst record at 17-48.
Grifol has a 78-149 record since taking over the White Sox. His .344 winning percentage is the third-worst for a manager in franchise history. Ed Walsh and Les Moss both have lower winning percentages but only managed three and 36 games, respectively.
Manager | Year | Winning % |
---|---|---|
Ed Walsh | 1924 | .333 |
Les Moss | 1968 | .333 |
Pedro Grifol | 2023-24 | .344 |
The White Sox have struggled on both sides of the ball in 2024, ranking 30th in the league in runs scored and 29th in ERA.
