Trout still without timetable to return from knee injury

Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout remains without a timetable to return after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee last month.

Trout admitted Tuesday that he's recovering more slowly than he would like and hasn't started running yet, according to The Athletic's Sam Blum.

"It's getting there," Trout said, per Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune. "Obviously, slower than I thought, but it's the first time with a knee injury. I'm just trusting the process and taking it day by day."

The 32-year-old underwent surgery May 3. Trout has dealt with a slew of injuries over the past several seasons, appearing in 100 or more games just once since 2019.

"Certain things get it kind of achy and sore the next day," Trout said. "Trying to limit that because I don't want to get here and have a setback. ... Just trying to progress as fast as I can but the smart way."

The Angels are 18-24 since Trout's last appearance April 30. They currently sit fourth in the AL West, four games ahead of the last-place Oakland Athletics.
