Watch: A's lose run in bizarre fashion after McCann trips over plate
This is a new one.
The Oakland Athletics had a run taken off the board during Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels in perhaps the strangest sequence of the season. In the top of the second, A's shortstop Max Schuemann gave his team the lead when he ripped what seemed to be a routine two-run double.

Oakland's only problem was that Kyle McCann, who scored the second run, tripped as he was coming home and missed the plate. Although McCann quickly doubled back to touch up, he was immediately ruled out because Armando Alvarez - who scored just ahead of him - had pushed McCann back towards the plate.

A baserunner cannot pass or make contact with one of his teammates while on the bases. Because McCann missed home plate at first, he was still considered a "live" runner when Alvarez touched him.
The A's challenged the ruling, but it was upheld on review.
