Twins' Miranda ties MLB record with hits in 12 straight ABs
With his fourth-inning single off the Houston Astros' Hunter Brown, Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda became just the fourth player in MLB history to record hits in 12 consecutive at-bats.
Miranda's streak sets a new expansion-era (since 1961) record and ties the overall mark held by Walt Dropo (Tigers, 1952), Pinky Higgins (Red Sox, 1938), and Johnny Kling (Cubs, 1902).

Miranda joined Bernie Williams (2002) and Dustin Pedroia (2016) as the only expansion-era players with hits in 11 straight ABs in the third inning.

A hit by pitch in the first inning halted his streak of consecutive plate appearances with a hit at 10 but also extended his on-base streak to 11 consecutive PAs. The third-inning single also gave him a Twins record by reaching safely in his 12th straight plate appearance, a record he's since extended.
Miranda's on-base streak, which ended at 13 PAs on a fly-out, was the majors' longest such run since Kevin Youkilis in 2009.
Ted Williams owns both the American League and modern MLB (since 1901) on-base records, having reached safely in 16 straight PAs in September 1957. The overall mark of 17 was set by Piggy Ward - who was traded from Baltimore to Cincinnati mid-streak - back in 1893.
Miranda's insane run started Wednesday with an eighth-inning single off Detroit's Alex Faedo. Five of his 12 hits have gone for extra bases, including a home run Friday.
The 26-year-old, who was hitting .294 before his streak began, has bumped his 2024 slash line up to .328/.370/.901.
