The New York Yankees reportedly signed reliever Tim Mayza to a minor-league deal, sources told The Athletic's Katie Woo and Brendan Kuty.
Mayza, a longtime member of the Toronto Blue Jays, was released on July 5 after being designated for assignment and clearing waivers.
The veteran lefty has struggled to an 8.03 ERA and 1.95 WHIP across 24 2/3 innings pitched in 2024. However, the 32-year-old posted a 1.52 ERA last year and owns a career mark of 3.87 across seven seasons.
The Yankees are expected to keep Mayza in Triple-A until he is needed at the major-league level, per Woo and Kuty.
New York has lost 17 of its last 23 games.
