Yankees won't ask Soto to rest injured hand over All-Star break
The New York Yankees have no issue with star outfielder Juan Soto participating in the All-Star Game while nursing a hand injury, manager Aaron Boone said Sunday.
"We're not concerned about that, as long as Juan is good with it," Boone told reporters, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. "It's not something that we're concerned with that he is going to injure more."
Soto hurt his hand at the end of June while sliding into home plate against the Toronto Blue Jays. He missed one game but has since been a regular in the lineup. He's producing a .279/.392/.558 slash line in July.
"I've been grinding through it," Soto said Sunday, according to Hoch. "It's right there. It's been good so far. I've just got to make sure I hit the ball."
The 25-year-old is slated to start the All-Star Game after earning the fourth selection of his career. The Yankees acquired Soto in an offseason trade with the San Diego Padres, who previously snagged him from the Washington Nationals.
Soto is hitting .300/.431/.567 with 23 homers and 66 RBIs in 2024. He and Aaron Judge have the Yankees in prime contention in the AL East as the season heads toward the stretch.
