The Cleveland Guardians and first overall draft choice Travis Bazzana agreed to terms on an $8.95-million signing bonus, according to MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis.
Bazzana is signing under slot, with the first pick in the 2024 MLB Draft assigned a slot value of $10,570,600.
The Australian's signing bonus also comes in below the draft-record $9.25-million deal that second overall pick Chase Burns reportedly received from the Cincinnati Reds.
Bazzana was considered the best pure hitter coming out of the draft after slashing .407/.568/.911 with 28 home runs, 16 doubles, and 66 RBIs in 60 games for Oregon State in 2024.
