Report: Yankees interested in reunion with Blue Jays' Green
The New York Yankees are interested in Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chad Green ahead of the July 30 trade deadline, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Green pitched the first seven years of his career with the Yankees.
The 33-year-old owns a 1.88 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with seven saves in 28 2/3 innings for Toronto. He's acted as the team's closer in July with Jordan Romano and Yimi García injured. Green is under contract until the end of 2025 after the Blue Jays exercised a two-year, $21-million option last November.
New York's bullpen ranks sixth in the majors in ERA but 17th in strikeouts and 18th in FIP. It's also without injured hurlers Ian Hamilton, Nick Burdi, Jonathan Loáisiga, and Lou Trivino.
The Yankees have struggled of late, with the Bronx Bombers having just one series win under their belts this month.
