Giants' Snell Ks career-high 15 with trade deadline looming
San Francisco Giants left-hander Blake Snell set a career high with 15 strikeouts during Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies.
Snell piled up an impressive 30 swinging strikes, with his fastball and curveball combining for 24 whiffs.
The 31-year-old has been excellent since returning from the injured list, allowing just two runs and striking out 30 across four starts (24 innings) in July.
The two-time Cy Young winner could be an intriguing trade chip ahead of the July 30 deadline. Reports indicated earlier this week that Snell was generating "significant" interest. The New York Yankees are among six teams to check in, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.
Snell signed a two-year, $62-million contract with a player option for the 2025 campaign in March.
