Gleyber won't move to 3B for Chisholm: 'I don't like it'

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres isn't thrilled about possibly leaving the keystone to accommodate Jazz Chisholm Jr., who the team recently acquired from the Miami Marlins.

"I'm a second baseman. I play second," Torres told MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Torres played third in the minor leagues, but still expressed displeasure at the potential of moving over. "I don't like it," he said.

Torres has played almost exclusively at second base since the start of 2022. The 27-year-old made 252 appearances at shortstop throughout his seven-year career, but never played third for the Yankees.

Chisholm, meanwhile, played center field in his Yankees debut on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox. He came up as a second baseman before transitioning to the outfield in 2023 and remains open to moving back.

"For me, it's just going somewhere. Especially a winning team, and they're asking me to go somewhere to help them win? I'm definitely gonna go out there and do it," Chisholm told Gary Phillips of NY Daily News Sports.

New York will need all the roster flexibility it can get with outfielder Giancarlo Stanton expected to return as early as Monday in Philadelphia.
