The San Diego Padres acquired All-Star reliever Tanner Scott from the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins are also sending right-hander Bryan Hoeing to the Padres and will receive left-hander Robby Snelling, right-hander Adam Mazur, infielder Graham Pauley, and infielder Jay Beshears in return.

Scott has been a lockdown option in the ninth inning, registering a 6-5 record with a 1.19 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, 18 saves, and 53 strikeouts across 45 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old is an impending free agent and will look to bolster a Padres bullpen that ranks 19th in the league in ERA.

Scott is A.J. Preller's second major bullpen acquisition, as the Padres' general manager also acquired right-hander Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 28.

Hoeing, 27, is 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 30 innings. He's been excellent against left-handed hitters, allowing a .167 batting average.

Mazur was San Diego's No. 4 prospect, according to Baseball America, and made his MLB debut for the Padres earlier this season. The 23-year-old struggled in eight starts, posting a 7.49 ERA. He was a second-round pick in 2022.

Snelling was the Padres' No. 3 prospect, per Baseball America. The 20-year-old is 2-8 with a 6.01 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 16 starts at Double-A this season.

Pauley was ranked No. 6 in San Diego's system, according to Baseball America. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut this season, hitting a pair of home runs with five RBIs in 32 at-bats.

Beshears was the No. 29 prospect for the Padres, per Baseball America. The 22-year-old is slashing .261/.373/.377 with four home runs, 30 RBIs, and 55 runs scored in 85 games.
