Pirates land Bryan De La Cruz from Marlins for 2 prospects
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder Bryan De La Cruz from the Miami Marlins in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jun-Seok Shim, the teams announced.
De La Cruz adds a bit more power to a Pirates outfield that, save for All-Star Bryan Reynolds, has struggled offensively. The 27-year-old is hitting .245/.289/.417 with 18 homers and 51 RBIs this season and has experience playing all three outfield spots.

De La Cruz comes with years of team control, as he'll enter arbitration for the first time this coming offseason.
Shim, 20, was signed by the Pirates out of South Korea and struck out 13 batters in eight innings during his first four professional starts. He's currently on the injured list with a shoulder injury.
Forrester, the Pirates' third-round pick in 2023, is hitting .250/.399/.344 with one homer and 11 RBIs in 41 games this season, primarily with Low-A Bradenton. The 22-year-old's primary defensive positions are catcher and third base.
