Kiermaier: Vladdy is 'best player in the big leagues'
Kevin Kiermaier had high praise for his former Toronto Blue Jays teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
"Vladdy, he's the best player in the big leagues right now," Kiermaier told Sportsnet's "Blair and Barker" on Wednesday. "He is so locked in, hits everything as hard as can be."
Kiermaier was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline after spending parts of two seasons with Guerrero and the Blue Jays.
Guerrero is scheduled to become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2025 season, and Kiermaier said the Blue Jays should be doing everything possible to keep him in Toronto for the long haul.
"He is all sorts of locked in right now and a phenomenal human being," Kiermaier said. "I love him. So if I was GM, I'd be paying the man."
Guerrero hit eight home runs with 20 RBIs and ranked seventh among all hitters in MLB with a 1.112 OPS in July.
The 25-year-old is slashing .311/.382/.524 with 21 home runs, 70 RBIs, and 26 doubles across 108 games this season.
