Angels' Rengifo out for season after wrist surgery
The Los Angeles Angels announced infielder Luis Rengifo will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after undergoing wrist surgery on Tuesday, according to Bally Sports West's Erica Weston.
Rengifo was removed from an Aug. 2 game because of renewed wrist soreness, which he battled for weeks, and was placed on the injured list the following day with left wrist inflammation.
Before the injury, the 27-year-old was one of the Angels' most productive players, ranking third on the team in fWAR and first in steals.
The Angels have been decimated by injuries this season. Mike Trout is out for the rest of the 2024 campaign after tearing the meniscus in his knee twice, while Anthony Rendon has appeared in just 33 contests.
Los Angeles also announced right-hander Chase Silseth is out for the year after having elbow surgery, according to Weston.
