Dodgers DFA Rosario to clear spot for returning Betts
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated infielder Amed Rosario for assignment, the club announced Monday.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for star Mookie Betts, who's set to return from the injured list after missing almost two months with a fractured left hand.
"I really like Amed a lot. It's a tough decision, it really is," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. "But with our lineup construction, I just didn't see a lot of runway for him when we got guys coming back."
The Dodgers acquired Rosario from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 29 for his second stint with the club. The 28-year-old had three hits in 11 at-bats with a pair of RBIs in his brief five-game stint with the Dodgers.
Rosario is hitting .305 with two home runs, 28 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases across 81 games this season.
