A's Adams appears to mock Mets' 'OMG' celebration after strikeout

Oakland Athletics reliever Austin Adams appeared to mock the New York Mets' "OMG" celebration after striking out Francisco Álvarez to escape a jam in the fifth inning of Tuesday's game.

Adams struck out two batters to help the A's maintain a 7-4 lead. The 33-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Mets in the offseason but was designated for assignment after the team signed Jake Diekman. The Mets eventually traded Adams to Oakland for cash considerations in March.

"Honestly, I looked up, and I was so surprised that I got out of it, I was like, 'Oh my gosh!' And then it dawned on me: Oh my gosh. And then so I did it," Adams said, per The Athletic's Will Sammon. "But that song is sick. (Jose) Iglesias is a good dude. Hopefully, no one is offended."

Mets right-hander Edwin Díaz thinks Adams "crossed a line" with the celebration.

"He (can) do it always, that's fine. But, he can't get mad if we do something to him the next couple of days," Díaz said, according to the New York Post's Bridget Reilly.

The Mets adopted their celebration in honor of Iglesias' song, entitled "OMG."
