Tampa Bays closer Pete Fairbanks left Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the ninth inning with a lat strain and will likely be placed on the injured list, according to Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Florida.
Fairbanks called for the trainer after delivering a changeup to Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll.
The 30-year-old blew his second straight save opportunity, allowing a game-tying three-run home run to Adrian Del Castillo.
Fairbanks owns a 3.57 ERA with 23 saves and 44 strikeouts across 45 1/3 innings this season.
