The Houston Astros optioned outfielder Chas McCormick to Triple-A following Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, the team announced.
Houston did not announce a corresponding move.
McCormick is in the midst of a down year, hitting .192/.256/.292 with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 87 games. But he's still maintained solid numbers on defense (91st percentile in range) and as a baserunner (87th percentile in sprint speed) despite his struggles at the plate.
The 29-year-old had a breakout campaign for the Astros in 2023, posting an .842 OPS (130 OPS+) with 22 homers, 70 RBIs, and 19 steals.
McCormick was a 21st-round pick by the Astros in 2017.
