Crochet: 'I would be receptive' to extension talks with White Sox
A historically bad season for the Chicago White Sox hasn't turned Garrett Crochet off the idea of sticking around long term.
"I would be receptive to conversations," Crochet said regarding a potential extension, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score.
"Those conversations are not reliant on only myself and what I might want. I know that (GM Chris) Getz does everything with the team's future in mind, so I think we can trust that to be true."
Crochet, 25, is under contract through 2026 and stands to get a sizable raise on his $800,000 salary through arbitration.
The lefty has posted a 3.68 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 203 strikeouts in his first season as a starter. His 142 innings pitched are almost triple his previous career high of 54 1/3.
The fireballer made headlines ahead of the trade deadline by setting hard demands on a potential extension, reportedly stating he would not pitch in the postseason unless awarded a new deal.
Crochet was named to his first All-Star Game this summer.
His White Sox entered Friday with a 39-120 record, one loss away from setting a new modern-era record.
