Judge: 'Fun time' in New York with Yankees, Mets in LCS
Aaron Judge is looking forward to being in New York City for the rest of the postseason after the Yankees and Mets both advanced to their respective league's championship series.
"It's going to be exciting," Judge said after the Yankees eliminated the Kansas City Royals from the postseason on Thursday, according to SNY.
"It's definitely going to be a fun time in New York. They're (the Mets) having a great season and it's going to be fun to look forward to down the road getting a chance to face them again."
Judge made sure to compliment his former bench coach, Carlos Mendoza, who led the Mets to the LCS in his first season as manager.
"The Mets have had an incredible season," Judge said. "They've got a great manager over there in Carlos Mendoza, who I've had a chance to be around for quite a few years in the Yankees organization. What a leader."
Judge called the manager's "cool, calm, and collected" demeanor an asset during the major ups and downs the Mets have experienced this season.
Mendoza said he reached out to several members of the Yankees organization to congratulate them on their series win. He later admitted to hoping the Mets and Yankees meet in the World Series.
While the Yankees were positioned for the playoffs through most of the campaign, the Mets took a different route to the postseason, securing a spot on the final day of the regular season after an atrocious start to 2024.
The Mets rode their momentum to a stunning series victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the wild-card round, followed by an elimination of the heavily favored Philadelphia Phillies in the division series.
