Profar laments loss to Dodgers: 'Had everything to go all the way'
San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar knows his team let an opportunity slip through its fingers after falling 2-0 in Game 5 of the NLDS to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"I'm sad for this team," Profar said, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "We had everything to go all the way. But, you know, baseball. They played better than we did the past two games. We're going home."
Profar had four hits in 18 at-bats with no extra-base hits and no RBIs against the Dodgers.
The Padres went cold at the plate after winning Game 3, failing to score a run over the final 24 innings of the series.
"Give credit to everybody who deserves credit," Padres star outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. said. "They pitched good. Simple as that. We gave our best battle."
San Diego hasn't advanced to the World Series since 1998 and is still looking for its first championship in franchise history.
