Vogt: 'More left on the table' for Guardians after ALCS loss

Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt wants his team to use its ALCS loss to the New York Yankees as motivation to succeed in the future.

"Remember this feeling. Remember this feeling you have right now because there's more left on the table for this group," Vogt said when asked what he told his players after Saturday's season-ending loss, according to ASAP Sports.

"We know we can accomplish more, but be proud of what we accomplished overall and use this to fuel your offseason."

The Guardians won 92 games and advanced to the ALCS for the first time since 2016 under Vogt, who took over for Terry Francona before the season began.

Cleveland played the Yankees tough during the five ALCS games against New York - each contest was decided by three runs or less. The Guardians also stopped a streaking Detroit Tigers squad in the ALDS after winning their second division title in three seasons.

Most of the Guardians' roster is returning next season, putting them in good position for more success. Cleveland's free agents include Shane Bieber, Alex Cobb, Matthew Boyd, Austin Hedges, Carlos Carrasco, and Anthony Gose.

Entering 2025 with a similar foundation gives Vogt hope for the future.

"Obviously we're hurting. What a game to finish it on. This group of guys worked extremely hard from Day 1," Vogt said. "We believed, and we still believe we can be better. We can be more."
