Ohtani suffers dislocated shoulder, will undergo testing

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani suffered a left shoulder dislocation on a stolen-base attempt during Saturday's 4-2 victory against the New York Yankees, manager Dave Roberts announced postgame.

Roberts described the injury as a "little" subluxation and said Ohtani will undergo additional testing on Sunday. However, he was cautiously optimistic after the initial examinations.

"We're gonna get some tests at some point tonight (or) tomorrow, and then we'll know more in the next couple days. But the strength was great, the range of motion good, so we're encouraged," Roberts said, per Yankees Videos. "But obviously I can't speculate (on his status) because we don't get the scans yet. So once we get the scans we'll know more. But again, with the strength, the range of motion good, that's certainly a positive."

Ohtani sustained the injury while attempting to steal second base in the bottom of the seventh inning. Microphones on the field picked up audio of Ohtani telling trainers that he popped his shoulder out. He left the field accompanied by Dodgers training staff.

Ohtani left Dodger Stadium after the game without speaking to the media, according to Stephanie Apstein of Sports Illustrated.

The 30-year-old is 1-for-8 with a run scored and two strikeouts in the World Series and is hitting .260/.403/.460 with three homers and 10 RBIs in the postseason.
